I am a teacher with a passion for teaching, and I was recently asked “What is the best way to motivate and inspire a classroom in which they are engaged?” I felt that it was important to say something about the answer that I hope other teachers might find useful. I believe that a key to effective classroom engagement is that you need to be at the same level of self-awareness as the students.

Here’s some truth: I think most teachers will agree that it’s important to be on the same level as your students if you are engaging them in a meaningful and engaging way. Self-awareness is when you understand and can do without what someone else is thinking.
