We love a good cookie in the morning, and when we come home from work, we love to try new recipes to mix up our diet. I remember the first time I tried a new cookie recipe and was a little skeptical. Like, how the heck am I going to make these? How am I going to eat three? I had no idea what I was missing. That was the first time I realized that self-awareness is extremely important when it comes to our food and relationships.
I think it’s important to first define what “self-awareness” is. Here’s why. You might think that every time you go to the grocery store you have complete control over what you buy. But like most shopping trips, you don’t. You’re not the one setting the prices. You’re the one who has to make the decision. And like most decisions, the decision is made for you, not for the store. You’re always the one who makes the decision.
It can be hard to keep track of all the decisions you make when you are shopping. You dont just go to the store and say, “I think I should buy this.” You dont have to. A lot of our shopping decisions are influenced by how we feel about the store. When it comes to cooking, we dont just go to the store and say I want to buy this. The store can make that decision for us.
And we do go to the store, but we do it in our heads. We say we are going to go buy these cookies, and we look at the shelves and figure out what we want. We do not just go to the store and say I want to buy that. We look at the shelves and figure out what we want and then we go there. In the end, we end up buying the cookies and then we eat them.
By the way, I’m not just talking about cookies. The cookies are just one of many things that we buy when we go to the store. But you can use the same logic to talk about anything else. We can get a good deal on a bag of candy or we can buy a box of cereal. We can buy a cheap, high-end, or fancy shirt or we can buy a nice dress.
The trouble with cheap dates is that they don’t last as long as the ones on the fancy date market. So when you want to buy something that costs more than a few bucks, you’ll first look for the fancy and then the cheap ones. You can take your cheap date and take a good look at it and take a look at it with the fancy one and it’ll just look like a cheap date.
A more expensive cookie has more calories for the same amount of time. A cookie with butter only cost $1.29 and a cookie with butter and sugar only cost $2.49. A cookie with butter and a little less sugar costs $1.29 and a cookie with butter and more sugar costs $2.49. So, if you are looking for a cheap date don’t go cheap. Go the fancy date way.
A few months ago I wrote a post about the cookie phenomenon and how a lot of people buy fancy dates because they have to be fancy. The same phenomenon is true in the cookie world. It’s why you see a lot of fancy chocolate chip cookies in the grocery store. It’s another reason for buying fancy cookies.
I still think fancy is a good word but you have to be a little careful with that. When I was a kid I remember my father having the same idea. He would make fancy chocolate chip cookies with butter and sugar. One day I was given a fancy cookie recipe. It was a simple recipe with just two ingredients. One of them was fat and the other was sugar. The only ingredients were sugar and butter.
