In my opinion, there is not a higher level of self-awareness than missing a person you love. To me, it is akin to missing a car. I mean, what would you do if you found out you were in a car accident? It’s pretty much the same feeling that you have when you find out someone you love is missing.
It’s a pretty rare feeling, because most of us are not close to our loved ones. But there is a feeling of, “Oh shit”, when you start to miss someone. I personally feel this when I’m missing a friend. It can be a pretty intense feeling. It makes you question your own worth and the worth of others.
The feeling of missing someone can have a pretty intense effect on a person. But there is a good reason why a person who has longed for a long time for a specific person would feel this way. There is an emotional resonance between someone who has longed but never had a chance to know the person who was someone they wanted desperately or who they imagined they could have if they only had the chance.
